SAR Adriatic Connect

Cooperation and Innovation for Safety in the Adriatic Sea

SAR Adriatic Connect is a project funded by the Interreg VI-A Italy–Croatia Programme 2021–2027, with a duration of 18 months, aimed at strengthening cross-border cooperation between Italy and Croatia in the field of Search and Rescue (SAR) operations at sea.
The project brings together a partnership composed of:
  • Municipality of Martano (Lead Partner – Italy),
  • Municipality of Ston (Croatia),
  • Development Agency of Ston – RAST (Croatia),
  • CNA Lecce (Italy).
The initiative addresses key challenges related to legal and operational fragmentation between the two countries, as well as the limited real-time data sharing that affects the effectiveness of maritime emergency responses. To this end, the project will develop an innovative digital platform and establish harmonised procedures to improve coordination among SAR authorities.
Through joint training activities, pilot exercises, and awareness-raising actions targeting young people and coastal communities, SAR Adriatic Connect aims to make the Adriatic Sea safer, promoting shared governance and greater resilience across the involved territories.
